At Engelbrektsskolan, children were in close proximity to the central Stockholm bus stop when a bus collided with a group of people around 3:24 pm local time. The school disclosed that there was no immediate information regarding any involvement of its staff or students in the event.
Headteacher Karin Nord stated that a crisis meeting would be held to address the situation and provide support to both students and staff who may have witnessed the tragic crash.

Emergency services swiftly responded to the scene in Östermalm after the accident, with a significant presence of law enforcement and medical personnel. Regrettably, it was confirmed that some individuals had lost their lives while others sustained injuries.
Michelle Marcher, representing the Stockholm region, reported that five individuals were injured, including two in critical condition, and were taken to the hospital for treatment. Authorities clarified that there were no passengers aboard the bus at the time of the collision.
