Apple has rolled out a crucial update for new iPhone users to resolve a wireless charging issue affecting some devices. The bug is hindering wireless charging functionality, leading impacted users to rely on MagSafe charging instead. Although Apple mentions that only a small portion of users are impacted, it is recommended for all users to ensure their devices are up to date.
The iPhone 17 series, including the Pro and Pro Max models, as well as the iPhone Air, have been identified as devices requiring the update. According to Apple, the update specifically addresses a problem that hinders wired charging on these models when the battery is almost depleted.
To update your device, navigate to Settings, then General, and select Software Update. Look for iOS 26.5.1 and tap on Update Now for immediate installation or schedule the update for nighttime. Ensure a Wi-Fi connection or ample mobile data as the update file is substantial at 13.6GB.
