Rapper and Netflix personality Ghetts is facing legal charges after being involved in a deadly hit-and-run incident in London on October 18, as reported by the Metropolitan Police.
The artist, known by his birth name Justin Clarke-Samuel, is accused of striking a man with his car on Redbridge Lane East in Ilford and failing to stop at the scene. Sadly, the 20-year-old victim passed away in the hospital following the accident.
Clarke-Samuel, aged 41, made a court appearance at Stratford Magistrates’ Court on Monday where he was remanded in custody. He is scheduled to appear at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on October 27. Authorities are urging any witnesses to the collision to come forward with information.
With a substantial following on Spotify, Clarke-Samuel has collaborated with prominent artists such as Skepta, Stormzy, and Ed Sheeran. He also graced the stage at Glastonbury in 2024.
Back in 2008, the musician received a nomination for a BET Award for Best International Act: UK alongside Chipmunk, Giggs, and Skepta. His music has been featured on major platforms like BBC Radio 1.
Having won the Best Male Act at the Mobo Awards in 2021, Clarke-Samuel was honored with the Mobo Pioneer Award in 2024 for his significant contributions to British black culture.
Aside from his musical achievements, the Mobo recipient is recognized for his role as the menacing character Crazy in Netflix’s Supacell, portraying a recently freed ex-convict who returns to a world of criminal activities.
Furthermore, he starred in the 2018 crime thriller The Intent2, a film centered around a man’s loyalty to his gang and a brutal crime boss hindering his aspirations of independence.
