“Conor McGregor Withdraws from UFC White House Event”

Conor McGregor has officially stated that he will not be participating in the upcoming UFC event at the White House. Initially rumored to headline against Michael Chandler on June 14 in front of President Donald Trump’s residence, McGregor’s presence is now anticipated in a later fight in July.

Speaking to Smash Cast, McGregor expressed his initial enthusiasm for the White House event, highlighting the potential matchup with Chandler as an electrifying spectacle. However, plans shifted towards a return for McGregor during the International Fight Week in July, leaving Chandler without an opponent for the White House card.

McGregor acknowledged his readiness to compete at welterweight for his upcoming bout, noting his increased size and physical preparedness. Despite expressing eagerness to sign the contract for the fight, McGregor emphasized the need for a respectable offer before finalizing any agreements.

With McGregor’s absence from the White House card, speculation arises that Jon Jones may headline the event in his return to the cage, possibly facing off against former middleweight and light-heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, who recently vacated his 205lb title.
