According to WhatsApp, “Your crucial conversations are no longer confined to your phone alone.” Users can now engage with friends on their iPad, connect with family during commutes, and effortlessly navigate between different apps for work and personal tasks. The goal is for WhatsApp to be accessible wherever users go.
The update introduces several key features. Most notably, iPad users will no longer be required to sign up via their phones to access WhatsApp. The new iPad app allows users to create and register a WhatsApp account directly on the iPad itself, eliminating the need for external pairing.
Addressing user feedback, the company acknowledged the demand for iPad account creation, stating, “One of the biggest requests we’ve received is for direct WhatsApp account setup on iPads.”
Furthermore, drivers will benefit from a revamped experience as WhatsApp redesigns its Apple CarPlay and Android Auto apps. These updates enable users to manage messages, calls, call history, and favorite contacts directly from the vehicle’s display, promoting safer driving practices by reducing phone distractions.
For those handling documents regularly, WhatsApp now supports opening PDF files directly within chats without prior downloads. Additionally, on web and desktop versions, users can annotate and highlight PDFs within WhatsApp through Adobe Acrobat integration.
Music enthusiasts can rejoice as well, with the ability to share tracks from Apple Music and Spotify directly to their WhatsApp Status. This simplifies showcasing current playlists to friends within the app.
