Topshop is making a comeback to the UK high street through a new collaboration with John Lewis. The renowned fashion brand, which had closed its standalone stores in 2021, will now be featured in all 32 department stores of John Lewis and on its website, with Topman products available in seven of its stores.
This reintroduction includes a curated collection of 130 highly sought-after pieces from Topshop, including their popular denim items. The partnership was officially announced last year after a series of temporary pop-up events in various John Lewis locations. It is part of John Lewis’ substantial £800 million investment in new brands for the upcoming spring/summer season.
Previously owned by Arcadia, Topshop and Topman vanished from the UK high streets in 2021 before being acquired by ASOS, which initially sold Topshop products online. Last year, Topshop made a physical return to London’s Oxford Street with a launch at Liberty department store.
Michelle Wilson, the managing director of Topshop, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating that the partnership with John Lewis will provide customers with easy access to their favorite Topshop and Topman pieces. The move coincides with London Fashion Week and will be followed by promotional activities in Piccadilly Circus and other locations across the UK.
John Lewis is strategically focusing on its fashion segment as part of a larger transformation plan led by Peter Ruis. The retailer, which is part of the John Lewis Partnership along with Waitrose supermarket chain, is intensifying its investment in fashion to support its current business strategy.
Peter Ruis, the managing director of John Lewis, highlighted the significance of this partnership, emphasizing their commitment to becoming a leading style destination on the British high street. Additionally, John Lewis is introducing 14 new fashion, jewelry, and accessory brands in preparation for the upcoming season.
