A man aged 57 was urgently taken to the hospital in London’s Piccadilly Circus after being struck by a falling object. An air ambulance landed in Trafalgar Square today in response to the incident that occurred at approximately 2:27 pm on Coventry Street.
According to a spokesperson from the Metropolitan Police, emergency services are addressing an incident in Coventry Street, W1, in response to reports of a 57-year-old man being hit by a piece of masonry that fell from a building. The man is currently being treated by the London Ambulance Service and will be transported to the hospital soon by London’s Air Ambulance. The extent of his injuries is currently unknown, and the situation is ongoing, with people advised to avoid the area.
The London Ambulance Service reported that they were alerted at 2:27 pm today (Tuesday, 28) about a person injured in Coventry Street, London, W1. Ambulance crews, an incident response officer, an advanced paramedic practitioner, and London’s air ambulance were dispatched to the scene. The injured man was treated on-site before being taken to a major trauma center in London.
A witness informed LBC that the object caused the man to fall, resulting in a severe head injury with significant bleeding. The identity of the falling object has yet to be confirmed.
As a precaution, the vicinity has been sealed off.
