“Popular YouTube Show ‘Chicken Shop Date’ to End After 12 Years”

After over ten years of hosting, interviewing, and enjoying fried chicken with various celebrities on her popular YouTube show “Chicken Shop Date,” Amelia Dimoldenberg announced this week that she is bringing the show to a close. In an Instagram post on Thursday, Dimoldenberg expressed her gratitude to her followers for joining her on this journey and finding joy in the episodes.

Dimoldenberg admitted that she never anticipated ending “Chicken Shop Date” as she believed it would be a permanent part of her life. However, she now feels it is time to conclude this chapter and embark on a new adventure.

The show, which Dimoldenberg initiated 12 years ago by interviewing musicians in Britain’s underground rap scene, evolved to feature discussions with celebrities like Keke Palmer, Conan O’Brien, Paul McCartney, and Jack Harlow, accumulating nearly 3.5 million subscribers on her YouTube channel.

“Chicken Shop Date” follows a straightforward format, with Dimoldenberg engaging in casual outings with celebrities at fried chicken shops in London, asking a mix of flirty, humorous, and occasionally awkward questions. The interactions resemble first date banter rather than traditional talk show interviews, occasionally leading to playful exchanges, as seen in Dimoldenberg’s encounter with Andrew Garfield.

Dimoldenberg also hosted Canadian celebrities, such as Ryan Reynolds and Shania Twain, on her show, where amusing moments unfolded, like Reynolds mistakenly identifying a character from “Gossip Girl.” The show’s success provided Dimoldenberg opportunities beyond her chicken shop dates, including reporting from the Oscars this year, where she interviewed Hudson Williams.

While Dimoldenberg’s future plans remain undisclosed, she is involved in developing a young adult drama series for the BBC. Despite bidding farewell to “Chicken Shop Date,” Dimoldenberg hinted at a few final episodes before concluding the show permanently.
