A man, who callously orchestrated a sexual assault on a woman in a hotel room, has been sentenced to a decade in prison. However, the perpetrator, David Morrison, is currently evading authorities despite a bench warrant issued for his arrest after he failed to appear in court for the sentencing. Morrison, aged 44, was found guilty of rape and sexual assault by a jury following an incident where he lured the victim into a hotel room and then brought another man into the room to carry out his twisted fantasy. The court heard how Morrison callously left the victim alone with the man, instructing him to do as he pleased while Morrison stepped out momentarily.
The victim, unaware of the man’s intentions, resisted and protested against the unwanted advances. The man revealed that Morrison had paid him to engage in sexual acts with her. Despite the victim’s pleas and resistance, Morrison callously proceeded to rape her after the other man had left. The victim, whose identity remains protected, expressed the profound impact of the assault during a court statement, highlighting the ongoing trauma and suffering she endures daily.
In a statement, the victim described how the assault has transformed her home into a place of fear, her body into a source of dread, and her mind into a battleground. She expressed the immense emotional toll the assault has taken on her, pushing her to the brink of despair and contemplating self-harm. Despite the ordeal, she emphasized her resilience and determination to fight for justice and reclaim her life from the trauma inflicted by Morrison.
During the court proceedings, Morrison’s defense highlighted that he had been acquitted of two other charges and emphasized his lack of prior criminal history. They portrayed Morrison as a skilled engineer with a troubled upbringing marked by neglect. Despite these mitigating factors, Morrison was sentenced to a decade in prison and issued with a restraining order preventing any contact with the victim upon his apprehension. Additionally, he will be required to register as a sex offender. Recorder Reid admonished Morrison for his absence during the sentencing, prolonging the victim’s suffering and delaying the resolution of the case.
