Judy Malinowski had a happy childhood before her life took a dark turn into drug addiction. Unfortunately, she passed away at the age of 33 due to severe injuries sustained from the harrowing ordeal of being set ablaze. Previously a participant in beauty pageants, Judy was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at a young age but bravely fought and overcame it, only for the cancer to return later in her life.
After undergoing a hysterectomy, Judy struggled with addiction, resorting to heroin from the streets after depleting her health insurance funds. Despite her challenges, her family remained steadfast in their support. However, her life took a tragic turn when she met Michael Slager, who supplied her with drugs, reigniting her addiction.
The situation worsened as Judy became dependent on Slager for her fixes. The fateful incident occurred on August 2, 2015, when Slager doused her in fuel near a gas station and set her on fire during an argument. Despite the severe burns covering 90% of her body, Judy miraculously survived and was rushed to the hospital.
Slager claimed it was an accident, but investigations revealed it was intentional. Judy endured multiple surgeries and slipped into a coma, with slim chances of recovery. However, against all odds, she woke from the coma months later and recorded a video testimony for her own murder trial, where she recounted pleading for mercy from Slager.
Tragically, Judy succumbed to her injuries in June 2017 at the age of 33, leaving behind her two daughters. In a groundbreaking move, she became one of the first individuals in the US to testify at her own murder trial through a courageous video recording. In 2018, Slager was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
