A video captured a dramatic incident of an off-duty police officer shooting a suspected robber during a daylight street ambush outside a mobile phone shop in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The officer, identified as Luiz Fernando Souza Nunes de Viveiros, intervened when he witnessed two individuals confronting a delivery driver outside the store. One of the suspects declared a robbery, prompting the officer to fire his weapon, hitting 26-year-old Michael Santos Preto, who died at the scene.
The second suspect, 40-year-old Joao Renato Macedo dos Reis, attempted to escape on foot but was apprehended by bystanders shortly after. He tried to use a firearm against the officer, but the weapon malfunctioned. Forensic teams were dispatched to the area to investigate the shooting, and the Sao Paulo State Department of Public Security confirmed that the suspects resisted arrest, leading to one fatality and the other’s apprehension on the spot.
