“Formula 1 Driver Narrowly Avoids Collision with Marshals at Mexico City Grand Prix”

During the Mexico City Grand Prix, Formula 1 driver Liam Lawson faced a shocking moment when he had to slow down to avoid colliding with two marshals crossing the track. This incident occurred on the third lap of the race, following a notification about debris on the track near turn one.

The marshals had been instructed to wait for all cars to pass turn one before clearing the debris. However, unaware of Lawson’s pit stop for a front wing change due to damage from the opening lap, they entered the track, surprising Lawson as he navigated the first corner.

Expressing his disbelief over the radio, Lawson exclaimed his shock at the situation and the potential danger of hitting the marshals. Despite the close call, he was commended by his race engineer for managing to avoid a hazardous incident.

The FIA is investigating the incident and the instructions given to the marshals prior to the track crossing. Following the turn one incident, marshals were alerted to the debris and placed on standby until all cars passed the area. Once Lawson pitted, the dispatch order for the marshals was canceled, and caution flags were displayed in the zone.

Lawson, still shaken by the incident even after retiring from the race, emphasized the dangerous nature of the situation and called for a thorough explanation from his team and the authorities. He stressed the need to prevent such occurrences in the future for the safety of all involved.

The Mexico City Grand Prix was ultimately won by Lando Norris, who now leads the championship standings, closely followed by his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri. With only four rounds remaining, the competition is heating up in the Formula 1 season.
