Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are set to face off in a historic rematch at The Las Vegas Sphere in September, marking the first professional boxing bout to be held at this venue. The two boxing legends previously clashed in what was dubbed the ‘Fight of the Century’ in 2015, with Mayweather emerging as the victor. Despite both fighters retiring, they are now gearing up for a rematch.
Netflix has officially announced that Mayweather vs. Pacquiao II will take place on September 19 at The Las Vegas Sphere, following their successful streaming of Anthony Joshua’s fight with Jake Paul last December. The upcoming rematch is anticipated to break records as their previous encounter generated massive pay-per-view buys and gate revenue.
Mayweather reportedly earned $250 million in their initial fight, while Pacquiao banked $150 million. With Mayweather holding a perfect 50-0 record, the stakes are high for both fighters in this rematch. Pacquiao expressed his excitement for the rematch, stating that the fans deserve it and emphasizing his dedication to his Filipino supporters.
Mayweather, confident in his abilities, stated that the outcome would be the same as their first encounter. Both boxers are expected to have warm-up bouts before their highly anticipated rematch, with Pacquiao scheduled to face Ruslan Provodnikov and Mayweather likely to fight Mike Tyson.
The upcoming bout will be a significant event as it will be the first boxing match to headline The Sphere, following UFC 306 in September 2024.
