“Frankie Dettori Claims Brazilian Victory in Farewell Tour”

Frankie Dettori concluded his illustrious racing career with a remarkable victory in Brazil, triumphing in the first leg of the nation’s Triple Crown series. Initially planning to retire at Ascot’s Champions Day in October 2023, Dettori later changed course and extended his career in the United States.

The 55-year-old jockey announced in November that his final rides would take place at the Breeders’ Cup at Del Mar, followed by a farewell tour in South America that culminated at Rio de Janeiro’s Gavea racecourse on Sunday. During the event, Dettori clinched two wins, first on Speak Alpha and then on Bet You Can in the Brazilian 2,000 Guineas, also known as the Grande Premio Estado do Rio De Janeiro.

This last racing opportunity allowed Dettori to showcase his iconic flying dismount celebration, a signature move he is known for. Reflecting on his win, Dettori expressed his surprise at securing a Group 1 victory on his final day, describing the experience as emotional and fulfilling.

Acknowledging his retirement from professional jockeying, Dettori emphasized his gratitude for his accomplished career and expressed his intention to remain active in the racing industry. He has accepted a position as a global ambassador for Amo Racing, under Kia Joorabchian’s leadership, following his final British Group 1 win on King Of Steel in the Champion Stakes.

In a heartfelt message to his fans on social media, Dettori shared his deep appreciation for the sport that has been central to his life for nearly four decades. He expressed gratitude to his family for their unwavering support, thanked his colleagues and supporters in the racing community, and extended his appreciation to his loyal fans for making his dream a reality.
