A tragic incident has led to the death of a young woman who underwent a Caesarean section at a private hospital. The woman, identified as Jyoti Pal, gave birth to her son in January this year. Following the surgery, it was alleged that medical staff accidentally left a surgical bandage inside her abdomen, causing her severe pain a few days later. Despite seeking medical help at the same hospital, the source of her discomfort remained unidentified.
Subsequently, Jyoti’s condition worsened, and she was later transferred to another hospital where doctors discovered the bandage, which had caused a severe infection. Despite receiving treatment, Jyoti tragically succumbed to the illness. Her husband, Prajjwal Pal, has filed a complaint against the hospital in Dehradun, India, where the incident occurred, as well as the doctors involved in the procedure.
Authorities in the city have initiated an investigation into Jyoti’s untimely death following the complaint. The Chief Medical Officer of the district, Manoj Sharma, confirmed the launch of the probe into the alleged medical negligence. Sharma emphasized the need to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, particularly the presence of the gauze inside Jyoti’s abdomen and its subsequent impact on her health.
The hospital under scrutiny, located in Araghar, reportedly did not respond to inquiries and has been temporarily closed during the investigation. A committee led by Sharma will delve into the details of the case, awaiting the results of the post-mortem examination. Further updates and findings from the investigation are expected to be released in the near future.
