Several tracks by Taylor Swift have been taken down from social media videos shared by the campaign of U.S. President Donald Trump and the White House, which had featured two of the pop star’s songs in the last week.
Requests for comments from the White House and a representative for Swift were not immediately answered.
Swift, who has not addressed Trump recently, had endorsed his Democratic opponent, then Vice-President Kamala Harris, in 2024. During the 2020 election, she made a social media post stating that Trump was unwanted as president.
Trump has been critical of Swift, particularly after her endorsement of Harris. He expressed disdain for Swift on social media, at one point saying, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” and later suggesting a change in her popularity after his negative remarks.
Multiple artists, including Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande, have urged the Trump administration not to use their music.
References to Popular Swift Songs on TikTok
Donald Trump’s campaign featured two Taylor Swift songs on its TikTok page in the past week. One video referenced Swift’s popular tracks with a caption like “Red (Donald Trump’s Version).”
In June, a video was shared on Trump’s campaign TikTok account using Swift’s song “I Knew It, I Knew You” from the movie Toy Story 5. The video depicted Trump engaging with children at the White House, dancing at a UFC match, and appearing at a rally, with a caption praising his love for the country and its people.
This marked the third instance of the Trump administration or campaign using Taylor Swift’s songs in recent times.
