Sky subscribers are in for a change as the company merges Sky Cinema Animation and Sky Cinema Family into a single channel, starting April 30. The move aims to streamline the service, offering a consolidated destination for family-friendly movies on channel 304. Viewers can look forward to popular titles like the Shrek series, The Secret Life of Pets, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse all in one place. Despite the consolidation, all content previously available on Sky Cinema Animation will still be accessible through Sky Cinema Family.
For fans of Sky Cinema Animation, there is a silver lining. Although the standalone channel will no longer be available, it will make a comeback during school holidays to entertain children. Sky has confirmed specific periods when the channel will be accessible, including July 24 to August 30, October 23 to November 1, and December 1 to January 5.
In other news, Sky has ventured into the home security market by introducing new smart devices. Customers can now subscribe to a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month with a £15 upfront fee. The system features full HD video recording, mobile alerts, customizable activity zones, two-way audio, and 30 days of cloud video storage.
Additionally, Sky offers a Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ for £8 per month and a £20 upfront cost, providing an indoor camera and enhanced app controls. Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized the company’s commitment to making premium smart technology more accessible, focusing on valued features while ensuring simplicity, ease of use, and affordability.
