“Renowned jockey survives horse accident, faces long recovery”

A renowned jockey narrowly escaped death when her pelvis was severely injured by a horse that fell on her. Sonja Logan, the victim of a brutal carjacking in 2023, suffered multiple injuries, including a broken nose, a cut lip, and three broken front teeth just weeks before her wedding. Despite the assailants fleeing the scene, they remain unidentified. Recalling the excruciating pain of being trapped under a half-ton racehorse, Logan described it as the most intense suffering she has ever experienced.

While riding Jumping Power Two, a horse trained by her husband Tommy, Logan faced a terrifying incident when the horse became startled by something, causing it to rear up and fall on top of her, crushing her pelvis. After being rescued and transported to the hospital, Logan underwent surgery to repair her shattered hip. Reflecting on the ordeal, she expressed gratitude for narrowly avoiding more severe injuries that could have proven fatal.

Currently recovering at home with the aid of a walking frame, Logan anticipates a six to eight-month recovery period before she can resume horseback riding. Despite previous challenges, including battling depression and substance abuse, Logan found solace in competitive bodybuilding to overcome her mental struggles. She credits her supportive network, especially her husband, for helping her navigate through this latest setback with resilience and determination.
