A prince and his new fiancée received congratulations after he proposed during a trip overseas. Prince Johannes Oettingen-Wallerstein, a descendant of a prominent aristocratic lineage in Germany, asked Luisa Textor to marry him while they were in Japan attending a family wedding. Johannes, aged 27, gave Luisa, 25, a stunning triple sapphire ring, and they appeared overjoyed in a lovely selfie shared to announce the engagement.
The happy news was disclosed on social media by Johannes’ father, Prince Carl Eugen zu Oettingen-Wallerstein, who expressed his delight for the couple and wished them all the best for their future together. Despite not being widely recognized as royalty, Johannes is a member of the esteemed House of Oettingen, a noble family with a rich history in Franconia and Swabia.
The couple has not confirmed a wedding date yet. While Prince Carl Eugen shared the engagement news on his Instagram, it is unknown if the couple also made the announcement on their personal social media accounts. Heartfelt messages congratulating the couple flooded the comments section of Johannes’ dad’s post.
Johannes and his fiancée were in Japan for the wedding of Prince Peter of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn, the Prince’s maternal uncle, who married Yurina Hattori-Roche in a Shinto ceremony. Prince Carl, Johannes’ father, previously married Princess Alexandra of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn, with whom he shares two children, Johannes and Princess Helena.
Additionally, Johannes has three half-siblings. His 11-year-old half brother, Prince Eugen, is from his father’s second marriage, while his half sister and half brother, Countess Elisabetta and Count Lászlo, are from his mother’s second marriage, according to People Magazine.
