“Freely Emerges as Sky and Freeview Competitor”

In the ever-evolving TV landscape in the UK, Sky and Freeview have long reigned supreme, delivering content to countless households. However, a formidable competitor, Freely, emerged in 2024 and has swiftly garnered over one million households.

Since its inception, Freely has continuously enhanced its features and expanded its content offerings, boasting over 50 live channels accessible without the need for traditional aerial or dish installations.

Adding to its appeal, Freely has introduced the Freely Spotlight Channels, providing additional entertainment options at no extra cost. These channels will stream exclusively through standard Wi-Fi connections and will be positioned on channel 31 and channels 90 to 99, also accessible to CTV OS partners via Freely-enabled devices.

Notably, V, the company behind the VIDAA OS smart TV platform utilized in Hisense televisions, has been announced as the launch partner for Freely’s Spotlight Channels. This collaboration will bring a curated selection of channels to the Freely TV Guide from V’s lineup.

The introduction of Freely Spotlight Channels will integrate these new channels within the existing TV guide, granting them enhanced visibility and credibility within the regulated UK TV landscape. While specific content details remain undisclosed, further information is anticipated closer to the launch date.

Deep Halder, Chief Commercial Officer at Everyone TV, expressed the company’s commitment to providing long-term value and fostering partnerships within the TV ecosystem. V, as Freely’s initial partner at launch, is leading the way with its prominent feature of new channels within the TV Guide.

For those unfamiliar with Freely, it is managed by the same team responsible for Freeview and Freesat. What sets Freely apart is its delivery of all content through a broadband connection, eliminating the need for aerials, satellite dishes, or complex setups. Users only require a compatible TV or set-top box and a stable Wi-Fi connection to access Freely’s offerings.

The platform presently offers a diverse selection of over 50 live channels, on-demand content, personalized recommendations, a comprehensive TV guide, and the convenience of pausing live television.
