One person from the six occupants of a vehicle involved in a fatal crash in Ireland has been discharged from the hospital.
The tragic incident took place when a Volkswagen Golf carrying Chloe McGee, 23, Alan McCluskey, 23, Dylan Commins, 23, Shay Duffy, 21, and Chloe Hipson, 21, collided with a Toyota Landcruiser on the L3168 at Gibstown, Dundalk, on Saturday evening. The sixth occupant, also in his 20s, was hospitalized but has now been released.
Two individuals in their 20s from the Toyota Landcruiser are still receiving medical care for non-life-threatening injuries. Post-mortem examinations have been conducted, and the remains have been handed over to the families. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the crash to come forward.
Vigils were held for the deceased victims at three gaelic football grounds in counties Louth, Meath, and Monaghan. The victims hailed from different areas, including Carrickmacross, County Monaghan, Drumconrath, County Meath, Ardee, County Louth, and Lanarkshire in Scotland.
Superintendent Charlie Armstrong from Dundalk Garda Station issued a statement confirming the investigation into the fatal collision and expressing condolences to the families affected. The scene remains closed for examination, and an incident room has been set up for further investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact Dundalk Garda Station.
