EE, a BT-owned company offering broadband, TV, and mobile services, has launched a new feature called Smart Search on its TV devices. This feature aims to simplify the process of finding content by allowing users to search based on mood, themes, plot details, or memorable quotes. With Smart Search, users can easily locate shows or movies without needing specific titles.
In addition to Smart Search, EE has introduced Mood Matcher, an AI-powered tool that further helps viewers narrow down their choices by asking a few questions about mood, preferred genres, and themes. This tool provides personalized recommendations, making it easier for families to decide on what to watch, especially on weekend movie nights.
Luciano Oliveira, Director of Product, Home & TV at EE, emphasized the importance of simplifying content discovery for households. While similar voice search features exist on Sky, EE stands out as the first pay-TV service in the UK to offer conversational, AI-powered search capabilities.
Paolo Pescatore, a technology analyst, highlighted the significance of faster content discovery in enhancing the overall viewing experience, particularly in a landscape where audiences are inundated with numerous content choices.
Both Smart Search and Mood Matcher are currently accessible through the EE TV app on compatible TVs, with support for EE TV Pro and EE TV Box Edge devices coming soon. Interested users can find more information at ee.co.uk/smartsearch.
