A recent Halloween event for children has sparked disappointment among parents, who likened it to a previous event dubbed the ‘Glasgow Willy Wonka experience’. The event, known as Glasghost, was promoted as a spooky indoor affair featuring various attractions like a ghost train, silent disco, bouncy castle, laser tag, and a pumpkin patch.
However, parents attending the event over the weekend expressed dissatisfaction, stating that the silent disco solely played Michael Jackson’s Thriller on repeat, and activities such as laser tag had underwhelming setups like black sheets strung up as walls. The pumpkin patch and ghost train also received negative feedback, with some calling the latter “horrendous”.
Tickets for children were priced at £16, while adults had to pay £26 or more depending on the time slot. Some attendees drew parallels to a past disappointing event, emphasizing their disappointment with the lackluster experience at Glasghost.
One mother, Elaine Wylie, took to social media to criticize the event, labeling it as a “shambles” reminiscent of the Willy Wonka disaster. Other parents shared similar sentiments online, urging people not to waste money on what they described as a lackluster experience.
The event organizer, Fan Frontier, acknowledged initial operational challenges but stated that improvements were made promptly. They emphasized that despite some issues, the majority of guests enjoyed the event and praised the atmosphere, activities, and staff. They refuted comparisons to unrelated events, asserting that the feedback would be used to enhance future events.
