“Darts Player Dom Taylor Apologizes for Drug Use, Personal Tragedies”

Darts player Dom Taylor has publicly apologized for dishonesty regarding his drug use and shared about the personal tragedy of losing his daughter. This statement came after his expulsion from the PDC World Championship. The Darts Regulation Authority revealed that Taylor tested positive on December 14, leading to his suspension from the tournament despite his initial victory over Oskar Lukasiak.

Following his suspension, Taylor’s prize money was held back, and his opponent, Jonny Clayton, advanced to the next round without a match due to the circumstances. Taylor, ranked 65th globally, admitted to a previous failed drug test prior to the Ally Pally tournament in 2025 but believed he had overcome it after defeating Lukasiak, only to face another failed test on the same day.

In a lengthy social media post, Taylor expressed regret for deceiving his fans and loved ones, acknowledging his past mistakes and the impact of childhood traumas. He attributed his struggles to unresolved emotional wounds, including the traumatic events of his youth, such as finding his deceased grandmother and other distressing incidents.

The professional player recognized the disappointment he caused his family, sponsors, and supporters, emphasizing his desire to make them proud despite recent setbacks. Taylor disclosed that the anniversary of his daughter’s passing exacerbated his mental health challenges, leading to a reliance on substances for coping. He admitted the need for professional assistance following the holiday season to address his issues comprehensively.

Taylor admitted to neglecting to seek help earlier and shared his regret for missing significant family events, highlighting his current willingness to receive necessary support. He expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from his fans and vowed to return stronger in the future.
