Beauty Bay Faces Collapse: Admins Appointed

Beauty Bay, an online retailer of cosmetics, is facing a potential collapse as it has taken steps towards appointing administrators. This move initiates a legal process that temporarily protects the company from creditor actions for ten days.

According to reports from Sky News, Beauty Bay submitted the notice this week and has temporarily shut down its website, displaying a message stating, “We’ll Be Back Soon. BEAUTY BAY is offline right now, we’ll be back shortly.”

Established in 1999 in Manchester by brothers Arron and David Gabbie, Beauty Bay offers over 200 brands on its platform, including popular names like Ariana Grande, Clinique, and MAC, alongside its own product line.

Earlier reports indicated that Beauty Bay was exploring various funding options, including a potential sale of the business. Interpath, an advisory firm, was reportedly assisting Beauty Bay in conducting a business review. The company, which employs 65 individuals, has yet to comment on the situation when contacted by the Mirror.

The developments at Beauty Bay come in the wake of fashion retailer Quiz entering administration, resulting in the loss of 109 jobs. Quiz’s head office in Glasgow and warehouse in Lanarkshire are affected by the redundancies. The company’s website is offline, and customers with undelivered online orders are informed that these orders will be canceled.

Quiz is advising customers to seek refunds from their banks or credit card providers. Customers who made purchases of over £100 on credit cards might be eligible for refunds under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act. For debit card transactions or credit card purchases under £100, customers could consider using Chargeback for purchases made within the last 120 days.

Quiz has announced that its stores will continue to operate, offering clearance sales across all branches. However, the retailer has stopped accepting gift cards. With 40 stores across the UK and concessions in New Look and Matalan, Quiz’s concessions within New Look and Matalan stores are not subject to the administration proceedings.
