Footage has surfaced showing Anthony Joshua exiting a vehicle that was involved in a fatal collision claiming two lives in Nigeria. The former heavyweight champion was reportedly traveling in a Jeep on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Nigeria, his parents’ homeland, when it collided with a stationary truck on December 29. This incident occurred shortly after his victory over Jake Paul in the boxing ring.
Reports indicate that Joshua was seated in the back of the vehicle and sustained minor injuries. He has been taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment while authorities have initiated an investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
Eyewitnesses rushed to assist Joshua and others involved in the accident, with video footage capturing Joshua being helped out of the vehicle. The 36-year-old appeared to be in pain as he was rescued from the crash site.
According to local reports, the collision occurred when the vehicle swerved into the stationary truck due to a tire blowout, leading to loss of control. Witnesses, including Adeniyi Orojo, recounted the sequence of events, detailing the presence of Joshua and others in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, confirmed that Joshua had survived the accident and was en route to the hospital. This incident comes just before the new year, with Joshua hinting at significant plans for the upcoming year, including reigniting his rivalry with Tyson Fury.
In a recent Instagram post following his win against Paul, Joshua expressed gratitude to his supporters and hinted at exciting developments in the New Year.
