The Ogun and Lagos State Governments issued a joint statement regarding the recent car accident involving Anthony Joshua in Nigeria. The incident occurred on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, where a vehicle carrying a team of four, including Anthony Joshua, collided with a stationary truck, resulting in two fatalities.
The governments expressed their condolences to the families of the deceased and confirmed that Anthony Joshua and another passenger were taken to a specialized medical facility in Lagos. Medical assessments revealed that both individuals are in stable condition and do not require emergency interventions at present. A medical team is closely monitoring their progress, and Anthony Joshua has been in contact with his family.
Authorities are conducting investigations into the accident, which involved a black Lexus Jeep colliding with a stationary lorry. The Federal Road Safety Corps of Nigeria reported that two individuals lost their lives, one sustained injuries, and two others escaped unharmed. Preliminary findings suggest that the Lexus Jeep may have been speeding and lost control while overtaking, leading to the collision with the parked truck.
The statement also emphasized the need for privacy for Anthony Joshua and his family during this challenging time. It was jointly signed by Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser on Media to the Governor of Ogun State, and Gbenga Omotoso, Commissioner for Information and Strategy for Lagos State.
