David Malukas set the pace during the practice session at the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy event in Markham. Malukas clocked a time of 1 minute 14.194 seconds in the second practice session of the day, with qualifying scheduled for the evening. Following closely behind, Alex Palou recorded the second-best time of 1:14.560, while Dennis Hauger secured the third spot with a time of 1:14.592 on the Markham downtown road course.
The event faced a setback as organizers had to cancel the first day of track activities due to incomplete course construction and pending safety inspections. This year marks Markham’s debut as the race host, previously held at Toronto’s Exhibition Place since its establishment in 1986.
Earlier in the day, Palou had also topped the time charts during the first practice session, completing the circuit in 1:14.9915.
