Swaby, aged 28, brings a wealth of experience from playing in various top leagues around the world, including the National Women’s Soccer League, the Scottish Women’s Premier League, and France’s top division. She is known for her composure in high-pressure game situations and her leadership on the field. Hansen, 26, expressed her excitement at returning home to British Columbia to play for the Rise, emphasizing the significance of being close to her family and the opportunity to compete in front of a local crowd.
These signings come after the retirement of Mariah Lee, who decided to end her professional soccer career to pursue law studies in New York. Additionally, Vancouver bid farewell to goalkeeper Kirstin Tynan, who was loaned to the Halifax Tides for the remainder of the season. The Rise, currently at 5-9-1, are striving to secure a playoff spot as they trail Halifax by five points in the standings.
