The Toronto Blue Jays placed Vladimir Guerrero Jr., a six-time All-Star, on the seven-day injured list due to concussion symptoms on Saturday. They called up outfielder Daz Cameron from Triple-A Buffalo to fill the roster spot, designating right-hander Lazaro Estrada for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster.
Additionally, the Blue Jays recalled left-hander Ricky Tiedemann from Buffalo and sent right-hander Chase Lee down to Triple-A. Guerrero sustained the concussion symptoms after a collision with New York Yankees’ rookie shortstop George Lombard Jr. during the sixth inning of Friday’s 3-1 victory.
Following the collision, Guerrero’s helmet came off, but he managed to score the tying run before leaving the game. Charles McAdoo replaced Guerrero at first base in the seventh inning. Manager John Schneider noted that Guerrero experienced a headache after the collision and still had one on Saturday.
Guerrero, currently batting .263 with seven home runs and 46 RBIs, will be sidelined due to the concussion. Tiedemann, who had a 0-1 record with a 6.43 ERA in seven games (including two starts) across three minor league levels this season, has been called up as part of the roster adjustments.
