A heartwarming initiative called the ‘Gran-borghini’ project is bringing joy to senior citizens by giving them exhilarating rides in luxury sports cars. This unique experience has already touched the lives of over 50 individuals, aged between 60 and 92, providing them with a thrilling Gran-turismo adventure, courtesy of generous supercar owners who are sharing their prized possessions.
Created by Mark Cody, 36, the project was inspired by a personal tragedy when his grandmother, impacted by the effects of Covid, tragically took her own life. In memory of her, Mark decided to make a positive impact by organizing free high-speed rides for elderly individuals in high-performance vehicles like a borrowed Lamborghini, a McLaren GT, and a Ferrari.
With each ride, participants have expressed feelings of rejuvenation, with some likening the experience to feeling like rock stars or decades younger. The initiative has garnered support from various supercar owners, including those with Aston Martins and classic cars like the AC Cobra, all eager to contribute to this uplifting cause.
Mark Cody shared his astonishment at the overwhelming support received, emphasizing the joy of witnessing the participants’ emotional reactions. The project not only aims to provide thrilling experiences but also combat loneliness and isolation among older adults, echoing Mark’s promise to his late grandmother to bring happiness to others in her memory.
Through the ‘Gran-borghini’ project, participants have been treated to unforgettable rides, with some expressing their delight at being able to experience the thrill of luxury sports cars for the first time. The initiative not only brings excitement to the seniors but also serves as a reminder of the importance of human connection and support in combating feelings of loneliness and despair.
