Michael McIntyre recently shared that he has begun using Mounjaro to lose weight after his wife Kitty encouraged him. Doctors had cautioned the comedian about his obesity when he weighed 15st 10lbs.
Initially hesitant, the 49-year-old presenter of The Wheel mentioned that he started noticing results within just three weeks.
Speaking at one of his comedy shows in London, Michael informed the audience about his weight loss progress. He humorously remarked about being called “obese” by the doctor, who stated it was a medical term.
Despite struggling with weight fluctuations over time, the witty comedian attributed his recent weight gain to indulging in his wife and two sons’ leftovers, Lucas and Oscar.
Mounjaro, also known as tirzepatide in the medical field, has gained popularity for aiding weight loss similar to Ozempic and Wegovy. This food suppressant drug mimics the GLP-1 hormone, helping reduce blood sugar levels and promoting a feeling of fullness.
Initially developed for diabetes treatment, Mounjaro has shown effectiveness in weight loss, with celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and Sharon Osbourne having used it in the past.
Michael has made efforts to manage his weight, including reportedly spending £4,000 weekly at a weight loss clinic in Austria. He had previously visited the Mayr clinic in 2017 with his friend Paul Tomkinson, where he felt downcast due to the restrictive diet.
In an amusing anecdote shared on Jessie Ware’s Table Manners podcast in 2020, Michael recounted his experience at the clinic, including an unexpected fear of apples developed during his stay.
Expressing his reluctance to consume apples due to alleged side effects, Michael humorously mentioned the clinic’s unusual impact on him.
