Hamas militants are accused of brutally injuring around 500 Palestinians in Gaza by kneecapping them, as reported by human rights lawyer Moumen Al-Natour in an interview with the Mirror via WhatsApp. According to Al-Natour, the gunmen are specifically targeting individuals perceived as opposition, resulting in deaths and injuring hundreds by shooting them in the legs, with some attacks occurring in hospitals. The victims include men, boys, a pregnant woman, and even children as young as five years old, allegedly targeted due to their family affiliations.
Al-Natour, a 31-year-old anti-Hamas activist living in hiding, described the situation as horrific, especially in areas previously vacated by Israel under the Trump peace agreement. He mentioned that Hamas is using hospitals like Shifa in Gaza City to carry out their violent acts, including killings and brutal injuries. He also highlighted the attacks on clans with fewer weapons and expressed concern over Hamas fighters still active despite previous conflicts.
Having narrowly escaped an attempt on his life by Hamas, Al-Natour emphasized the urgent need for Israel to assert control in the Gaza region to prevent further atrocities. He called for efforts to improve living conditions, education, and governance, particularly in areas under Israeli control, to benefit the Palestinian population. Al-Natour had led protests against Hamas prior to the recent escalation of violence, underscoring the group’s reluctance to comply with peace agreements.
Al-Natour’s experiences serve as a grim reminder of the ongoing tensions and violence in the region, urging for decisive action to ensure the safety and well-being of the affected communities.
