Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, appeared in Sagamu Magistrates Court in Ogun state near Lagos, with his trial postponed to March 13. Kayode faces charges of causing death by dangerous driving and reckless driving. He was granted bail of approximately £2,600 and also faces charges of careless driving and driving without a valid license, potentially leading to life imprisonment. Prosecutors requested more time to gather evidence.
Anthony Joshua narrowly escaped death in the crash, recovering before being discharged from the hospital on New Year’s Eve. He returned to the UK in early January for ongoing rehabilitation.
