A convicted sex offender, Lucifer Hunter, was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges related to online child sexual exploitation. Hunter, who pretended to be a 16-year-old boy, targeted girls as young as 10 through various social media platforms such as Xbox, TikTok, Snapchat, and Instagram. He engaged in sexual conversations with the victims, pressured them for explicit images, and even threatened them if they did not comply.
One victim described a disturbing incident where Hunter conducted a sexual act in front of her during a FaceTime call and demanded similar actions from her. He also threatened some victims with rape, imprisonment, and exposure of their images to their families if they did not comply with his demands. The manipulative behavior extended over four years, targeting girls aged 10 to 15.
During the court proceedings at Canterbury Crown Court, it was revealed that Hunter exhibited a dual personality, appearing kind and friendly when his needs were met but turning aggressive and threatening when challenged. One victim from northern England expressed fear and anxiety upon hearing about the police visit related to Hunter. She recounted feeling unsafe and harassed by his persistent stalking behavior, including showing up at events she attended.
Hunter, who possessed indecent images and a pack of children’s underwear, was found guilty of offenses including online grooming, sexual communication, and possession of indecent images. The victims and their families described the profound impact of Hunter’s actions, with one girl feeling like her childhood was stolen and another’s mother witnessing her daughter’s identity being shattered.
Despite arguments for leniency based on Hunter’s mental health conditions and expressions of remorse, Judge Simon Taylor KC emphasized the calculated and harmful nature of Hunter’s crimes. He deemed the offenses as deliberate, planned, and manipulative, causing significant harm to the victims. Ultimately, Hunter was sentenced to five years in prison, prompting an emotional response from him as he apologized tearfully to his mother in court.
