“Superdrug to Open 30 New Outlets, Create 600 Jobs”

Superdrug has announced intentions to launch 30 new outlets this year, generating approximately 600 job opportunities. The upcoming store locations in England will include White Rose Leeds, Crawley, Waterlooville Retail Park, Newport Retail Park, and the Isle of Wight.

Additionally, Superdrug will introduce new stores in Scotland at Dundee Gallagher Retail Park, Kilmarnock Retail Park, East Kilbride, Strathkelvin Retail Park, Linwood Phoenix Retail Park, and Cwmbran Retail Park in Wales.

These new stores will feature Superdrug Beauty Studios offering services like ear piercing, manicures, and eyebrow threading. Furthermore, the company plans to refurbish 60 stores during the year. Currently, Superdrug operates over 780 stores in the UK and Ireland.

Superdrug executives attribute the expansion plans to robust customer demand in their stores. The beauty retailer will focus on enhancing “large-format destination stores and retail park locations.” Clare Jennings, Superdrug’s property director, emphasized the importance of physical, experience-driven retail, expressing confidence in the 2026 store opening program.

The investment aims to provide customers with trusted products and services in welcoming community spaces. Superdrug’s expansion initiative not only increases their presence but also creates employment opportunities and enhances access to healthcare and beauty products across the UK.

In similar retail developments, M&S has disclosed a desire to open new stores at 500 locations to grow its food business. Areas without an M&S store, such as Hove, Marlborough, and Wallingford, are among the targeted locations. M&S is seeking larger sites to accommodate a broader range of M&S Food products, with an average store size goal of 18,000 sq ft.

As part of its expansion strategy, M&S plans to open or renew 20 stores before the end of the financial year, contributing to the creation of 800 new jobs. The supermarket aims to attract more customers for their weekly shopping needs by stocking a wider range of products in larger Food stores.
