“Freeview Channel Changes: UK Households Urged to Retune TVs”

UK households relying on Freeview for their TV entertainment are advised to check their equipment and perform a quick retune due to recent channel changes. Freeview has confirmed that some channels have been renamed and others have shifted positions in the TV guide. Although the alterations are minor, a swift retune will ensure that TVs are fully updated.

Freeview has stated, “On May 20, 2026, certain broadcasters are implementing changes to their channels. Viewers will need to retune to keep their TV and channels up to date.”

Among the changes, two channels have undergone name modifications. Hobbycraft TV on channel 97 is now known as Shop Unlimited, and Great! Romance Mix on channel 61 has been replaced by Great! TV +1.

Additionally, there have been adjustments to channel numbers. Great! Movies has moved from channel 61 to channel 62, with Great! TV +1 taking over channel 61.

Freeview emphasized, “Channels are continuously evolving on Freeview as individual providers make decisions to relocate, add, or remove channels. Freeview remains committed to offering audiences a diverse and rich content selection.”

If the updates are not reflecting on your TV, manual retuning may be necessary. To retune your TV:

– Press the menu button on your TV or set-top box remote
– Select “set-up,” “installation,” “update,” or a similar option
– Enter “1234” or “0000” if prompted for a password
– Choose “first-time installation,” “factory reset,” “full retune,” or “default settings”
– Confirm deletion of existing channels if prompted
– The retune process should initiate automatically
– Save any channels found during the scan if prompted
