A tragic incident unfolded at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida where a man in his 60s lost his life, just one week after a young woman also passed away at the theme park. The woman was discovered near Disney’s Contemporary Resort, with authorities confirming it as an “apparent suicide.”
On Tuesday morning at 7:30 am, emergency services were summoned to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground following a distress call reporting a “Person Down” incident. The man, identified as being in his 60s, suffered a medical episode and was later pronounced dead in a local hospital. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office assured there were no indications of foul play involved.
The tragic event occurred at the Cottontail Curl campsite, one of the 21 camping areas within the resort, prompting an emergency alert to all guests staying there. This unfortunate incident followed the death of Summer Equitz, 31, at Disney’s Contemporary Resort on October 14, attributed to “multiple blunt impact injuries.”
Initial social media speculations suggested that Equitz had been hit by the resort’s monorail, but the sheriff’s office clarified that such information was inaccurate. Equitz, a resident of Naperville, was identified by the local medical examiner’s office. She had previously shared her joyful experiences at Disney parks on social media.
Prior to the official confirmation of her demise, a Reddit post described Equitz as a “missing person,” indicating she had traveled to Florida to visit Disney without informing her acquaintances. Disney has refrained from issuing any comments on the incident, while investigations continue to unfold.
