“Sugababes’ Mutya Buena Reveals Postnatal Depression Led to Band Exit”

Sugababes member Mutya Buena disclosed that postnatal depression played a significant role in her decision to leave the popular band. The 40-year-old artist departed from the girl group in late 2005 shortly after the birth of her daughter, Tahlia-May, and was subsequently replaced by singer Amelle Berrabah.

Following her departure, Mutya later reunited with Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy to embark on tours and create new music together. In a recent interview, Mutya shared insights into her exit from the group, expressing that more free time to relax would have possibly influenced her decision to stay.

During a conversation with Glamour UK, bandmate Keisha reflected on the challenges the group faced throughout the years, highlighting the constant rejection and pressure to conform to external expectations. Despite the hardships, the group persevered, eventually reuniting and reclaiming their legacy.

Back in 2011, original members Mutya, Keisha, and Siobhan surprised fans with news of their reunion after Keisha’s departure in 2009. The trio, now known as MKS, treated audiences to sold-out performances and new music releases.

In 2019, the group successfully regained legal rights to their iconic name, propelling them back into the spotlight. Discussing their resurgence in an exclusive chat with the Mirror, Siobhan emphasized the incredible legacy of the group, acknowledging the pressure to deliver new music that lives up to their past successes.

Keisha added that their reunion aimed to pick up where they left off, emphasizing their commitment to their fans and providing them with a satisfying conclusion to the Sugababes journey.
