Bruce Springsteen, also known as The Boss, extended a helping hand to director Scott Cooper and his family following the devastation caused by the Los Angeles wildfires. Cooper, who is currently working on the biopic “Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere,” lost their home in the fire. In a heartwarming gesture, Springsteen invited Cooper’s family to stay at his residence and even sent Cooper’s daughter a guitar to replace the one lost in the fire.
Speaking to PEOPLE magazine, Cooper expressed his gratitude towards Springsteen for accommodating his family during their difficult time. The director shared how the experience added a special meaning to the movie project, making it challenging to release it to the public.
Cooper faced emotional turmoil when he received the news of his home being consumed by the fire while on set with actor Jeremy Allen White, who plays Springsteen in the biopic. The incident coincided with a poignant scene being filmed, intensifying the emotional impact on Cooper.
Despite the hardships, Cooper acknowledged the resilience of his daughters, Ava and Stella, praising them for their strength in coping with the loss. The family had to make the heartbreaking decision to euthanize their pet dog just a week after the fire, adding to their already overwhelming challenges.
Reflecting on the experience, Cooper described it as the most difficult day he had ever encountered during a movie shoot. The director commended his daughters for their strength and resilience in the face of adversity, highlighting the bittersweet nature of the past year.
White, who had the daunting task of portraying Springsteen in the film, shared his challenges in preparing for the role, especially in terms of singing and playing guitar. Despite the pressure, White appreciated the opportunity to learn and grow through the process, acknowledging the presence of Springsteen on set as both inspiring and demanding.
As the film production progresses, the touching story of Springsteen’s support for Cooper’s family serves as a reminder of compassion and solidarity in times of adversity.
