“Sky Launches Affordable Smart Home Plans in UK”

Sky has introduced two new smart home plans featuring internet-connected cameras with cloud recordings starting at just £5 per month. This new offering aims to compete with popular home security devices like Ring doorbells and Google’s Nest system in the UK market. The plans include a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month with a £15 upfront fee, providing features such as full HD video recording, instant alerts, customisable activity zones, two-way talk, and 30 days of cloud video storage. For those seeking additional security, the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ is available for £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee, adding an indoor camera and advanced app features like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.

Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized the goal of making high-quality smart technology more accessible and user-friendly. The company’s strategy is to simplify the management of key features that customers value most, ensuring that staying connected to home is effortless and affordable. These new plans mark a shift for Sky, as they now offer standalone smart home security services, expanding beyond their previous Protect Smart Home Insurance offerings that bundled cameras and alarms.

In comparison, Amazon currently sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, with an additional Ring Protect subscription starting at £4.99 per month for cloud recording access. Sky’s competitive pricing and comprehensive features aim to attract consumers looking for reliable and cost-effective home security solutions.
