New information has surfaced regarding the passing of Sam Rivers, the bassist of the band Limp Bizkit. Rivers, who was highly praised by his fellow band members, tragically passed away on October 18. The exact cause of his death remains undisclosed, but a spokesperson from the St. Johns County department of the Florida Fire Rescue shared some new insights.
According to the spokesperson, they received a call regarding a person in cardiac arrest who was unresponsive on that fateful Saturday. Deputies were dispatched to the location and confirmed it as an “attended death.” An attended death refers to a scenario where the deceased individual was undergoing medical treatment for a severe or life-threatening condition with a foreseeable short-term prognosis of death, typically within days or months rather than years.
The specific illness that afflicted Rivers is currently unknown. He played a pivotal role as one of the founding members of Limp Bizkit back in 1994. Rivers’ bandmates, Fred Durst, John Otto, Wes Borland, and DJ Lethal, expressed their grief through a heartfelt statement, remembering him as not just a bass player but as an irreplaceable force within the band.
Despite temporarily leaving the band in 2015 due to liver disease, Rivers returned in 2018 after undergoing a liver transplant and making significant lifestyle changes to combat the illness. Unfortunately, his struggle with alcoholism resurfaced, leading to serious health warnings. Rivers’ legacy as a talented musician and a cherished friend was commemorated by his bandmates, pledging to keep his spirit alive in their music and memories.
