“Nigel Farage Faces Inquiry Over Undisclosed Financial Interests”

Nigel Farage is under scrutiny in Parliament for failing to promptly disclose his financial interests. The Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards initiated an inquiry on October 30 concerning Farage’s earnings and overseas visits.

The investigation revolves around his alleged omission of a trip to Florida to headline a fundraising event for Donald Trump earlier this year. Farage was the keynote speaker at a Republican party dinner in Tallahassee, where guests could pay up to £18,445 for a VIP ticket, entitling them to a photo opportunity with the Clacton MP.

Farage attributed the oversight of not declaring the trip in parliamentary logs to an administrative error by his office. He clarified that he had emailed the trip details to his office, but they were not included in the register due to the aforementioned mistake.

Under parliamentary regulations, MPs must disclose any foreign visits exceeding £300, not fully covered by themselves or public funds, within 28 days. In response to the investigation, a Labour source criticized Farage for his absence in Parliament and accused him of promoting austerity measures while benefitting financially from international engagements.

Lib Dem Deputy Leader Daisy Cooper called for transparency regarding Farage’s ties with Trump’s White House, referencing the failure to register earnings from the dinner. Previously, Farage was investigated over an undeclared fishing boat, which was ultimately found to be owned by a company associated with him rather than a personal asset.

Recent reports revealed that Farage is the highest-earning MP, grossing one million pounds from multiple roles since his election. He devotes significant time to outside activities, estimating 25 hours per week on his 11 side jobs, contributing to his substantial income and property portfolio post-Brexit. Despite inquiries, Reform UK declined to comment on the matter.
