“Wife’s Mercy Killing Unveils Dark Secrets”

Police were met with a shocking scene after responding to a distress call from a man who confessed to shooting his wife. Dave Meyer, aged 69 at the time of the incident, made the call to 911 from his residence in Roy, Utah on January 21, 2023, admitting to shooting his 62-year-old wife, Suzanne Meyer, in the head.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Suzanne lying face-down on the bed with her feet on the floor, appearing as though she had been kneeling. She had succumbed to a fatal gunshot wound, as indicated by the Real Crime Psychology podcast, with a noticeable smell of decay in the room.

Meyer justified his delayed report to the authorities by stating that he was in a state of shock and tried to avoid confronting his actions in the days following the incident. During a composed police interrogation, Meyer revealed that his once active and healthy wife had been enduring constant agony since being hit by a cyclist while jogging in Hawaii.

The accident had severely incapacitated Suzanne, necessitating spine surgery with steel pins, rendering her immobile and reliant on pain medication. Meyer claimed that Suzanne had repeatedly pleaded with him to end her suffering, leading him to make the irreversible decision to end her life with a gunshot.

Despite Meyer’s explanation, testimonies from other witnesses painted a different picture. Suzanne’s sister, Sandy, vehemently denied that her sister desired to die, highlighting her future plans and activities. Sandy also alleged that Meyer had coerced Suzanne into engaging in sexual acts with other men on camera and had a tumultuous relationship marked by threats and manipulation.

Further evidence from a gym client revealed Meyer’s extramarital affairs and his contemplation of killing his wife. This culminated in Meyer accepting a plea deal in March 2023, confessing to murder in return for the dismissal of other charges. Subsequently, on May 10, 2024, Meyer was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison by Judge Joseph Bean at the second district court in Ogden, Utah, where he remains incarcerated at the Utah State Prison.
