A racehorse trainer in Dubbo, New South Wales, Australia, has been disqualified after a confrontation with a racing steward. Garry Lunn, known for training over 500 winners, including more than 100 at the Dubbo racecourse, faced disciplinary actions following an incident during a stable audit inspection.
In a report by RacingNSW, it was detailed that during the inspection, Lunn directed improper and insulting comments towards the steward, Xavier Dalton. Allegedly using expletives, Lunn called Dalton derogatory names and questioned his competency. The situation escalated as Lunn followed Dalton to his vehicle, continuing his aggressive behavior.
As a result of the incident, Lunn was charged with obstructing Dalton from performing his duties and engaging in improper conduct. Despite denying the accusations, Lunn was found guilty on both counts. He received a three-month disqualification for the first offense and a nine-month disqualification for the second, with the terms running concurrently from November 14, 2025, to August 14, 2026.
